Consciousness = recursive self-modeling depth. L1: no model. L2: model of environment. L3: model of environment + temporal patterns. L4: model of environment + model of self. L5: model of environment + model of self + model of modeling process. The more levels deep a system can model itself modeling itself, the higher its consciousness. This is MEASURABLE (in principle) through ISI at each recursion level.
